This has to be a record- invitations issued, accepted, and articles forthcoming by two new people in one day. Something's happening here.
It's been my hope for a long time now to make it easier for those of us, in these post-draft era, to talk to 'the troops'. It's all in a day's work for me, but even here, those troops are used and objectified.
I have a few quick thoughts that I was able to spin out during my break tonight.
I'll give them to you in the order I got them. Let me know what you think-
This was first, in my work email this evening-
Ladies and Gentlemen:
It has come to my attention that quite a few Americans support our troops but as usual we are the silent majority. We are not organized to really reflect who we are. I would like to start a grass roots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association and the Special Forces Association to recognize Americans who support our troops. My idea is not to stand on street corners once or twice, not to carry stupid signs in a rally, not to carry our flag in parades. Its much simpler than that. We need to inform the local VFW's and American Legion, our local press, local TV, and even up to the national levels as we start to get this going. My idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is that starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, that we and every red blooded American who supports our young men and women,
WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV, lets see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at the University of Nebraska. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, drinking buddies, country club friends, I guarantee you that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in Red much to the disdain of the un-American ralliers.
Lets get the word out and lead by example, wear RED on Fridays. Thanks for your time and consideration of my proposal. When I get home, I intend to send this out to everyone on my e-mail list, hopefully, you will too.

My boss is an ex-Riot Grrl sellout hypocrite who drives a Hummer and forced an old Vietnam Vet who was worth ten of her out of his job so she could have it, but she once told a guy with 'only' two flags on his car to go back to Afghanistan. That's her idea of supporting a cause- forwarding retarded emails, and buying things you can wear.
Then, I got Samantha's BTB acceptance email. I started thinking..troops, really talking.
Halfway through my shift, I got a text from a friend who shares my distaste for Cafe Press for this site. She forwarded me the link to Adminzone , and their huge forum on Group Blog issues.

This all gave me a Bright Idea.
Why not upload our nacsent Bring the Beef stencils onto a RED T-SHIRT with the blog url?
Spreadshirts was by far the best of the alternative sites. Like Cafe Press, there is no minimum order required, but unlike every other blogshop I checked out, they are equipped to print digital images on dark colored shirts.
Like, oh, red for example.
(Here, go look what I made us - go to the 'shopping cart' and click for a lookee.)
And they have FLOCKED TEXT-Letters, which look hella beef-y.
If you all decide you want to go for this idea, Spreadshirts will print any Creative Commons-protected uploaded image that fits their technical guidelines.
Once everyone you know has one of our shirts, then we can start forwarding these emails to all and sundry....along with the complementary Spreadshirts Banner Ad for our shirt at the bottom of the page.
TRUE thinks we can meet a big dollar goal. This may be one way to add to the kitty (10-20% profit margin per shirt), represent the site, and maybe have a little fun doing it.
(thanks to PtReyes for all the linx.)
