I disagree almost totally with almost everything he represented and said.

But I give props to the man who said this-

Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song. - Pope John Paul II

Gotta give support to any leader who reminds us not to fear.

I've been doing some reading and writing on it, and just watching my fellow humans like I've seen them for the first time, and I realized,

...we have an indecent need to be led.

We want leaders. We want to take a man, usually, and call him a hero, so we can follow him and let him make sense out of the chaos that threatens us, and give us a soothing beginning, middle and end to the story playing out in our lives.

And when he fucks up (as he will, being human), we turn on him and the cause, whatever it is, and look for another man to turn into a hero.

Another ass to kiss to avoid using our own individual human conscience. Our own human need to connect.

"When freedom does not have a purpose, when it does not wish to know anything about the rule of law engraved in the hearts of men and women, when it does not listen to the voice of conscience, it turns against humanity and society."
-Pope John Paul II

It wasn't John Kerry. It wasn't Michael Moore. It wasn't Colin Powell. It isn't me.

It's everyone.

I really, truly believe (as much as I can really truly believe any one thing), that the test for this generation is to junk the Neolithic concept of 'hero' or 'savior', and each join our little candles to make a nuke-u-lar flame.

Teach yourself to be your own salvation

Coexist .

Thanks to everyone who posted, commented or reads here. "Here" is usually an excellent place to start.

I have some ideas, and so do you. Let's each do a little something.

Because I don't know about you, but I'm sick of 'heros' who think, because they care about somebody else some of the time, they can steal pension funds or fuck altar boys or make a rake-off on cheap Kevlar, because, well, they're such great and special leader-types, you know?

Let's each be 'here', now, wherever we are. Be decent. Be real. Be the change, be the peace, all that 'lovely hippie shit' (tm Pete Townshend) that never really got tried because the hippies sucked the Movement Leader's cocks even worse than their opposition.

But mostly because, a lot of little people doing a little something is the only thing that works.

Simpleton and Ben Allbright are writing for us now.

Welcome.

I can't wait to see what we can do together.
